Sen. John McCain on Friday, 28 aug 2008, announced Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his vice presidential candidate, calling her "the running mate who can best help me shake up Washington."

She will be the first woman to be nominated for vice president as a Republican and only the second to run for vice president on a major party ticket, after Democrat Geraldine Ferraro in 1984.

Palin is a first-term governor who unseated incumbent Gov. Frank Murkowski in the Republican primary in 2006 and went on to defeat former Gov. Tony Knowles, a Democrat, in the general election.

  • The democrats are desperate now. I watched her speech on CNN, and when she was done the liberal political analysts were SPEECHLESS!!! They were prepared to attack her, and at the end they couldn't say a bad word against her.

I came in US from a former communist country (I know from my own bad experience what liberalism and socialism is!), and I am so glad to see a woman like Sarah Palin to stand up for the american values.

I am proud to be an american!

    God Bless America!

  • Im proud to be a Canadian but that Sarah Palin is HOTT XD!!

  • Well, everybody is saying that. :)

careful man, america is already on it's way to becoming a shithole. and you only have china and overpopulation to thank. you may not have a reason to be so arrogant in the coming future.

  • well then we are all in their debt

It could've been Joe Liberman or Charlie Crist. Both turned in McCain in a hurry.

  • She can't even spell her own name.

  • i'd like to meet mccain's liberal friend who got him drunk the day he made that decistion!

  • Agreed. I was going to vote democrat anyway, but he could've increased his chances MUCH more if he had chosen someone with SOME experience (2 years of being a governor of one of the lowest-populated states?) Like you said, Hutchinson would've been better. Once I saw Palin, I knew he was going to lose. With a different candidate, I would've at least been sweating...

  • Sarah Palin recieved more votes for Gov. of Alaska than Joe Biden did in his Presidential run, and Sarah Palin has more executive experience than McCain, Obama, Biden combined! Obama didn't even run so much as a leamonade stand.

  • And ...... things went all downhill from there.

  • haha, and this is when his crediblity and campaign went to shit, nice job! I thought he should have picked a woman, but an experienced one like Hutchinson, once the economy hit the thought of this woman near the helm was a nightmare to many
