Yes they where Mainstream, you just have to look, WTSMG, one of the best selling albums of all time in UK, nobody in early 90's (Shoegazing, Alternative Rock) did something like that, and you say is not Mainstream, check yourself.

If you watch interviews he says he thought Noel was stabbed, as did Noel, I think anyone would dodge out the way of someone they thought had a knife, when he realised he didnt he was going to have a go with the guy but probably thought it was pointless considering there was security on the guy, if he did lay into the person he would have ended up looking like a nob like Ian Brown did when he started laying into a big ginger after he was knocked to the ground
