  • How did you get that marble look on the central guns? Looks really nice.

  • @platinumhawke Thanks for spotting that, I think your the first to notice it. This was done with a special Textured Finished rustoleum paint called Aged Iron. I haven't used it on any models since painting the Ikaruga but must try and used it again.

  • Talk about detail, great job!

  • @TheIkawatay Thanks, hope you enjoyed the slideshow.

  • Wow that thing is beautiful. I'd love to get my hands on one, but I've never made a model kit before in my life. What do you think I should do? I'd pratice on cheaper models but I don't have much money...

  • @BarnabyGamesDesign I wouldn't recommend this as a first model, it retails for about GBP£40 and is perhaps a little expensive as a first model. I'd recommend trying out a few cheaper models before moving on to the Ikaruga, this really needs to be painted to look its best and it takes a few models to perfect you're painting techniques. Good luck with any future model you may try out, its a really great hobby to get in to.

  • @zombierepublican A lot of the promotional images of the model appear to be painted. I'm still confident that this will look fine straight out of the box (it comes molded in several different shades). One thing to consider picking up if you plan to get the model is a couple of gundam markers. They are an easy and quick way of detailing a mode without the need for paint or paintbrushes, the gold gundam marker is a particularly impressive shade. Dalong.net has an OOB build on display

  • @tc012009 cheers man, would you say the pics on the sites where you can buy this are accurate to what it'll look like unpainted? the problem for me is don't have the patients, skill or materials to paint this beast.

  • @zombierepublican If you get a chance, I have an unboxing and build video of this model on my channel, they both will give you a better impression of how this will look built straight out of the box.

  • @zombierepublican This would look fine unpainted, but the metallic shaded parts would have a very plastic look to them. The main Armor is molded in a crisp white which is actually very nice straight out of the box.

Ever piece of my model was painted, and I put a lot of effort into highlighting all of the little details on the sculpt, this would be missing on an unpainted model.

Its a wonderful model, and if you are prepared to paint it, the finished product can easily look spectacular.
