On the topic of gruesome Bible stories Justin Bieber once said that he idolises Job. Not massively relevant but I just remember that and think it's pretty messed up to come away from the story of Job and still be a Christian.

One can go a step further and apply that to science as well. Ifgod exists, did he really make everything according to what mankind has discovered about the natural world, or was god a deceitful dick and faked it all? Either by my comment or yours, the christian god sounds more like the devil to me.

@MrWaterlionmonkey Wrong. He asked a man to murder his son. THAT is immoral. Abraham agreed. THAT is immoral. Who cares if he lied or not? His list of crimes was already extensive, a lie is the least of his crimes. If someone that I respected as a moral person asked me to kill MY son, I would cease to respect him and tell him to "fuck off". The lie is irrelevant.

if you hear a voice and it says that its God how can you be sure its not the Devil deceiving you? how could Abraham be sure?
