WHOI-TV promos from 1988

A collection of WHOI's old "were from the heart of 19" campaign done back in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

WHOI is Peoria's second oldest TV station which was launched a few months after when WEEK was first launched. WHOI was orginaly launched as WTVH (not to be confused with WTVH from Syracuse, NY). The station also underwent a number of changes in their callsign over the years. It also was once owned by the Peoria Journal Star and later sold. WHOI also onced owned WIRL-AM 1290 back durring the WIRL-TV days. WMBD-AM now owns WIRL while WHOI had so many different owners over the years. Barrington took over the station in 2004 and Granite which already owns WEEK and has control of Four Seasons' WAOE-TV recently took over the station after years of stuggling owners and news ratings.

As mentioned in one of my other videos, WHOI was also the last station to broadcast in analog in Peoria.

Wow, do you have any of the WHOI promos from '85 when they first launched the "Heart" campaign and that logo? I recall a very major market looking campaign with a song "We're 19, The Heart of it all!". Great stuff.

No, I don't. This is also the oldest video I have from my VHS/DVD library. I found these promos from an old VHS tape one day back in 2006.

That music is actually from the "Turn To A Friend" campaign that was used by a number of stations in the '80s.

I remember all of those old WHOI bumps before Ken Yocum gave his end of the day sermon. Is he even alive anymore?
