Super Mario Galaxy 2: "Freezeflow Galaxy" (Fanmade Theme)

TURN UP YOUR VOLUME A BIT -- this tune is much quieter, subtler and slower moving than some of my other works, but if you listen carefully you will hear lots of what I hope to be interesting sounds and layers beneath the main melody. Give it a chance, I think it might grow on some of you :-)

Sit back; relax. It's serene and spectacular here... Mario's chilling out by the cool, cool waters of Freezeflow Galaxy. But if you feel like taking a trip to the planet's other hemisphere, feel free to pound the red switch and go for a nice skate... a graceful ballet Mario style.

The main theme of this piece is entirely my own, although it obviously draws some inspiration from Nintendo-style watery, peaceful music such as "Aquatic Ambience" (DK Country) and "Underwater Exploration" (Super Mario Sunshine) but ultimately it also has to reflect above-land travel, like "Jolly Roger Bay" (Super Mario 64) and "Space Junk Galaxy" (Super Mario Galaxy), with a general frostiness much like this galaxy's sister galaxy, "Freeflame Galaxy" (SMG). Those with a good ear may hear a familiar theme from SMG/SMG2 at one or two points...

I have to say, after listening to Freezeflow, I found myself slightly disappointed with Cosmic Cove's music. Don't get me wrong, it was a beautiful and serene melody, but it just felt a bit cliche for a water level, with all the harps and the calmness and whatnot. It felt as though they played it a bit too safe. I honestly like this piece more; it gives off this odd and quirky yet undeniably beautiful feel. It's just a lot more unique, I suppose.

So yeah, great job, Bowie.
