Stena HSS High Speed Ferry in 1997

This video shows Stena line's high speed Ferry, HSS, that operated between the Hook of Holland and Harwich from 1997 to 2007.
It was filmed a couple of weeks after its maiden voyage in 1997 and at the time still drew a big crowd every time it departed from the Hook of Holland.
It was withdrawn from operation due to high operational costs, mainly caused by the tremendous fuel consumption by the ship's four jet engines.
The video was shot in VHS and recently digitally enhanced by de-interlacing, motion stabilizing and upscaling to HD with a superb Video Enhancer.

@StenaLine2011 The Stena Discovery did retire, she is the newest of the 3 HSS 1500 ferries, but was the first too retire, because she was on the longest route, and sailed the fastest of all the 3 HSS, although all 3 HSS could sail at the same speed if the needed too. It was because the Stena HSS ferrys are very inefficient and use a large amount of fuel. With fuel prices so high Stena Line cannot operate these ferries and make money.
