If 80% of the bikes were stolen or trashed so badly they had to be replaced - over $10 million in combined cost - how can this program possibly be considered successful? Genius of the Paris project? Best transportation project he has seen? Private property creates responsibility. Socialized property creates abuse.

We used a Blue Card last October, you can rent as many bicycles as you want but you have to have a "subscription" for each user. Which means separate user ID and PIN numbers. We took out two daily subscriptions each day for myself and my wife as we were only there for 5 days. We are going back in August and will get two weeklies. It's the best.

I'm going to Paris with my 14 year son. I've gotten an AMEX Blue card. Can someone tell me if with one card I can rent two bikes at once?

great video. Montreal just started such a system. it is called bixi...i used it all weekend. conclusion...omg it so much fun!
