Watch Heart of Haiti blogger ambassador Ananda Leeke, a lawyer-turned author, artist, coach, yoga teacher, and innerpreneur, share her fascination with Mami Wata, an African water spirit, at the first carnival held in Jacmel, Haiti since the January 2010 earthquake on February 27, 2011. The video features a life size paper mache sculpture of Mami Wata. Ananda's artwork and creative writing have been inspired by Mami Wata. She often appears as an African mermaid. The Heart of Haiti campaign is a partnership between Fairwinds Trading, Macy's, and the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund. It was created to provide sustainable income to Haitian artisans impacted by the January 2010 earthquake.
