The wide-ranging benefits of the Transcendental Meditation technique have been verified by more than 600 scientific studies conducted at 250 independent universities, research institutions and medical schools in 33 countries during the past 40 years.

Research studies have described specific physiological effects that occur during the practice of the Transcendental Meditation technique. The first studies were published in the early 1970s in Science, American Journal of Physiology, and Scientific American. This research found that the Transcendental Meditation technique produced a physiological state that the researchers called a "wakeful hypometabolic state." During the practice of the technique the researchers found significant reductions in respiration, minute ventilation, tidal volume, blood lactate, and significant increases in basal skin resistance, while EEG measurements showed increased coherence and integration of brain functioning. In 1987, researchers at Maharishi University of Management, Dillbeck, M.C., and D.W. Orme-Johnson, concluded that the physiology was alert rather than asleep during TM practice.

Studies have suggested a positive correlation between the Transcendental Meditation technique and possible health-related physiological states, including improvement in lung function for patients with asthma, reduction of high blood pressure, an effect the researchers termed "younger biological age", decreased insomnia, reduction of high cholesterol, reduced illness and medical expenditures, decreased outpatient visits, decreased cigarette smoking, decreased alcohol use, and decreased anxiety.

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi introduced the Transcendental Meditation technique to the world in the late 1950's. During the past 50 years, more than six million people, from every profession, age, educational background, and religion have learned the Transcendental Meditation technique and are rising to enlightenment through their twice-daily practice.

  • What he said at the beginning is so true... TM is basically just a really good stress release technique. But by doing that, it makes every single cell in your body work better - hence the hundreds of benefits in all areas of life.

  • I agree that TM can be great benefit to our well being but what is the true cause if not CAPITALISM a profit driven society that has created a world of wage slavery for immense majority a world of war, fear, exploitation of us and our evviornment.

  • @arzoyan the true cause seems to be ourselves, indirectly not being one with self....If you can logically agree that if every person in the world was taught this, and practiced it on a daily basis. They would find a center within themselves. Having said this, all of the problems we see today, would cease to exist....Consciousness creates your reality, if you are immersed in TM, only beauty, love, one-ness would expel from our reality.

  • Meditation is only a means to building and reinforcing positive qualities in yourself. When you're meditating you're essentially enhancing your neural networks. The more you meditate the more your mind becomes familiar with these subjects. You can meditate on any topic, meditation is focused learning. This is what benefits a persons life. You construct patterns of redeeming qualities and from this you reap the rewards. Also the calming affect as it reduces stress, added benefit.

  • I learned it for free. i was a long time meditator prior to learning it so it came easy. It has improved every area of my life. Bad habits have seemed to just fall away without even trying to quit doing them. They just didn't make sense anymore. they should teach this in schools

  • of course what you need is you!

when you meditate, who is there?, obviously is you!

what you said has no meaning my friend.

TM has a big difference from other technichs, it could be proved cientifically!

  • TM works and a lot of other stuff works also.

Don't get trapped in paying too much for some 'technique' ;-)

Search the Internet and if you are serious about meditation and quietening the mind you will find all the information you need r .

All you need is YOU. :-)

  • I feel a lot of people can't believe this work just because it's so simple :) I mean, they go like "THAT is?! Nahh..". LOL

Thank you for the upload :)

  • @greggz892 If you want to make progress with TM, learn the technique from a qualified teacher. The course is very thorough and doesn't cut any corners. Check out the official TM website to find out more about it.

  • Isn't consciousness a function of the brain? I can't see why the assumption is made that everything is consciousness and consciousness is the unified field. For example, a rock isn't conscious. It doesn't react to it's surroundings.

  • ive been trying to achieve this technique for awhile and have had no progress the only thing ive had progress in is astral projection but i still haven't really even achieved that either.....any advice anyone ?

  • John Hagelin, marry me. We shall discover the unified field, and have many babies together.
