I used Mapex since 1994, before anyone really knew who they were. A lot of people thought it was the name of a tampon.lol Seriously. I loved the sound, but was never crazy about the snare sound. It constantly needed tuned, and was just to high resonating for my taste. So i switched to Tama. But overall still a good kick, and not overly expensive. Also nothing beats Sabian. :)

@richiethegent that was just an example. And the drums aren't exactly 'gay' if people like Portnoy used them when they were only rising. He left due to the service then which wasn't as good as it is now. But there's Chris Pennie, Adler, Bissonette, Will Calhoun and Aquiles on the Roster. What exactly do you play? A Pearl Forum series? Go play a Mapex Saturn and then call them Gay.
