Vestas Sailrocket 2 light wind practice...

The film sort of says it all. The team have constantly been hampered by light wind conditions in this world record attempt. Nonetheless they keep going across the lagoon to 'Speed-spot' in an effort to both practice as a team and keep developing the potential of their boat.

What was the average wind speed on the course? You said light, just curious.

We had winds from 21-28 knots throughout the run. We averaged 24.5 knots. I figure we hit something stronger towards the end i.e. 28 knots. The boat never levelled out speed-wise... it kept accelerating hard until I slowed at the end. If the runway was longer she would have kept accelerating. This was all new territory for us.
