For more than 70 years, a US president's first 100 days has been a traditional, if artificial, measurement of his ability to get things done.

In the 1930s, Franklin Roosevelt swept through major reforms to deal with the mass unemployment and poverty during the Great Depression.

Rob Reynolds, Al Jazeera's senior Washington correspondent, looks at how Americans are measuring Barack Obama against this historical yardstick.
