A small stainless steel piece that caught my eye whilst washing up. A banal task at the best of times but must be done. This is the sink food stopper that sits flush or slightly raised from the plug hole to allow water to drain down away from the sink basin but refrains from letting food particles and such like items of a similar size to pass down into the plug hole and thus into the U bend, causing a blockage. I removed it from the sink disassembled it and then cleaned it up using an abrasive sandpaper and white spirit to make it shine and to clear the debris that had built up over the course of about 6 weeks. Simple SW piece but keeping my skills sharp only 22 minutes from start to finish.
