Centerpin Float Fishing for Steelhead

Hot action float fishing a small river on opening day with a centerpin float reel. Using a Raven SST-2 and a Raven 13'6" IM6 Winter Edition rod. The hot bait was mostly single yarn eggs tied on specialist hooks and then Jiggy Hexagenias once the yarn egg action slowed.

What line test do you use for mainline and leader on the IM9 when u fish for kings?also, what hook size?

For Great Lakes kings I'll generally use 10-lbs main line, 8.4-lb shot line and 6.8-lb leader. For smaller tribs I'll run hooks from 8 to 12, for bigger rivers I might go to a 4 or 6 (depending on the situation). For ocean-run fish, I run gear that is at least 50-100% heavier.

A Jiggy Hex is a beadhead Hexagenia nymph tied on a jig hook so that it suspends horizontally under the float (instead of hanging vertically and looking completely unnatural).
