  • the senior players are soon goin to be retired, there is a lot of young talent in our country,im not against ipl infact if u look at it in a broader sense, its cricket and im a big fan of it.im just saying that one of the reason of the ipl is to encourage young talent, but infact it is militating against it and that definitely needs to be considered.

  • @sandvncom Like I said IPL is here to rake in moolah, Maintaining /enhancing quality of indian cricket is not their concern. So you cant blame them for degrading the quality, its not their responsibility, at best a moral responsilbility or perhaps a long term interest I concur with you when you said "'... We' should think".

  • quality of cricket may not be ipl's driving force, that doesnt mean it shall degrade the quality of indian cricket ,we should think sth wich is realt useful to indian cricket, not just entertainment, wen india is such an inconsistent team, recent tour of england proves this

  • modis response to the mindset of young cricketers is not satisfactory,he should probably give it a second thought.is the fact that he is simply dismissing the criticisms by some legends of the game clearly shows his real concern for the game,i mean many of the senior officials hav the same opinion, and he is simply blowing em out, that proves him wrong in some of the cases atleast

  • @monash72 First of all Quality of cricket is not IPL's concern, there are here to make money. Giving the players a platform and increasing the reach of cricket is a natural fallout.

I think Modi is right here, if few cricketer's do not care for Ranji coz they have got IPL, then its not IPL's fault. Instead of lambasting IPL, BCCI should introspect and come up with restrictions and rules that it feels would further Indian cricket's prospect.

  • Set up a review panel that should look into all aspects of the fallout from IPL. Reduce the number of Ranji teams and make the participation in domestic cricket mandatory. IPL is based on American sports and there they don't give a damn about national team colours. All they care is about the club they play for and that is what is going to happen with Indian domestic players. Everyone has a right to behave like a celebrity and if he can carry it off then good for him. Disagree with Karan.

  • In Australia cricketers are build with a high quality domestic cricket, thats the fundamental. The higher the quality of domestic cricket, higher will be the standards of the cricketers. If Mr Shetty is claiming that players are taking eye of the domestic cricket then this is a very dangerous sign. Cricketers are built in domestic cricket and Lalit ought to know this better. IPL is only a drive through for quick big bucks, who is Lalit trying to fool. Remember this guy is a businessman.

  • The claim that by increasing participation he is going to build players for future is absolute bogus, IPL has only brought glamour and more money to the game. This form of shortened version can never never improve the standards of the cricketer in fact just the opposite. How can he dismiss that. The need for the administrators is to fine tune this IPL to suit Indian domestic cricket. He should order a comprehensive review of the effects of IPL on domestic cricket.

  • Lalit Modi you just dismissed all criticism without any good reasoning, analysis and insight. To me it seems its all about money what with him the highest tax payer in India. I am happy that a lot of domestic Indian cricketeres will get better paid but there is no doubt the quality of cricket is going to suffer. If Lalit just dismisses that criticism then he does not understand the game and he is only in it as a businessman. In this programme Lalit was a poor salesman of IPL, money talks!
