  • this is a wonderful production and this final dance was a delightful surprise, the best "good bye" that a conductor and his musicians and singers can give; obviusly they were playing and singing with joy and love for the music... and the audience took part in that joy .. I dont understand when people complain about this demonstrations ¿so, because its opera its supposed to be tragic?

  • This sort of thinking is the reason why most people find opera old and stiff. This might not be the proper period representation but it is a good way to approach new audiences.

This is not "grand opera". This is an opera-ballet, whose purpose is entertainment and not a "tragédie lyrique".

  • @alejandra379 En inglés no hay "¿". Jaja, pero gracias por el comentario. Estoy de acuerdo contigo...

  • I will eternally regret to have missed that - I would be ready to travel around the earth to see it performed in such an extraordinary way with musicians and singers as excellent as these...

  • seems liek a great opera. Why has it been staged as a pantomime?

  • This brought a wide grin to my face... I dearly wish this sort of thing happened more often; it's obvious that both musicians and audience are having so much fun out there--and it's great music at the same time! This video alone puts the lie to classical music being crusty and boring!

  • The era of Zeffirelli and kitschy conventional staging is over. Bravi!

  • I have tihs DVD: it's marvellous, it's like a musical!!!

  • Thi9s is on Amazon as a DVD set. Just look up the title!

  • This is a perfect example of the value of YouTube.

I found this and other "Sauvages" videos from this production here and I love them so much I went right to Amazon and bought the DVD!

This is so much fun, I can't wait to get my discs. This production seems to me to capture the spirit of Rameau's music so well! Baroque opera does not have to be stiff and slow!

    Thanks for the video!
