They can't give credit to Carter for his work on brokering peace throughout the world and his work with charitable foundations...
I think Al Gore was a far more contested pick because it is totally obvious that Carter desired it. Carter is known and respected more as a humanitarian than a president. When the republicans say Carter was a partisan pick I think they totally lose credibility because his wasn't just a political choice.
