Such golden memories for us aging baby boomers. No one could both stir and soothe the pangs of young love like Sam Cooke back in the innocent times of the late '50s and early '60s.
As R.J. Harris put it: "The greatest voice that ever sounded out."

...is, as far as I know, Mackie isn't a natural singer. We wouldn't want a corny lip-singing movie like 'Why Do Fools Fall In Love'...but Mackie has the edge Sam had, and is young enough. Another good actor is Chiwetel Ejiofor; he actually looks like Sam, more than Mackie, and is currently 33...again, I dont think he can sing naturally but these are good casting choices, look and bearing-wise.

A movie's currently being made on Sam starring singer Ray Lavender...I don't like the selection (Ray playing Sam). I read a recent interview where Ray said he was originally going to bring some of himself into the role, until Jamie Foxx met him and told him to get into method acting; to thoroughly study Sam and become sam. Ray reportidly said "Ok, I'll do that". My reaction's like you didn't plan on doing that already?!?! IMO, actor anthony Mackie would make a great Sam Cooke, only thing...

After hearin vocals this smooth and pure, how could anybody conclude anything otha than, "Sam Cooke is the GREATEST musician of all-time"... I concur. Sam Cooke deserves a movie about his life, so many otha artists have it. But Sam Cooke's turn has been loonnngggg overdue. Sam Cooke is indeed "The Inventor of Soul". RIP Sam Cooke.
