This is a portion of a conversation I had at Burning Man 2007 with my Non-Pagan camp mates about their views and perceptions about Neo-Pagans. It is vital to us as a community to hear the kind of misconceptions prevalent in society about who and what we are. We can use this information as a tool to educate ourselves and others and bring the truth to the forefront of mainstream consciousness.

  • @AtomicBomb79 Sorry, but I don't recall my original comment. However, no, someone who committed such a heinous crime would likely have some unpleasant incarnations ahead

  • If you took the pop counter cultural Neopag of today, that is imbued with Judeo-Christian morality, and dropped them in the "Pagan" cultures of the past , they would shit a water Mellon and bug out, because the blood thirsty brutality and blood lust of the ancient slave culture's, fueled by the religious concepts (that they idealized and romanticized today as superior to their own modern culture). There has never been a more Free and civil culture in human history than western civilization today

  • Paganism is a modern invention of pop counter cultural occultists, who took their ques from Christian Monks who created Paganism. There was never any such thing as the modern idea of Paganism. There is a saying "you can't go home again." Any attempt at reviving dead traditions, is nothing but an innovation and represents nothing but the ideas and beliefs of the reviver...and hence has no continuity and or authenticity...it is no better than the next empty blind faith.

  • @Takiado

I still think this is a misunderstanding of Satanism. Many (by no means all) Satanists, including the religion's founder, practice witchcraft. I think that makes them witches. I have no authority over whether they are fellow Pagans. Do you?

Besides which, Christian Buddhists exist. Do I understand how they combine those beliefs? No. But I expect they see them as great compliments, especially if they see Buddhism as a philosophy, not a religion.

Please explain what a witch "really" is?

  • @ShantiAumShantiAum they were merely stating that satanic witches don't exist.. In other words: paganism and satanism aren't the same thing. witches aren't satanists and satanists aren't pagans.. however, they can gain beliefs from either religion but cannot be the same because its like trying to be a christian buddhist... it doesn't work and is contradictory. He wasn't saying they don't exist, he was saying that there is no such thing as a satanic witch unless you dont know what a witch is.

  • @xxparseus

I know Satanic witches. Your comment that they don't exist would offend them. Do you know what Satanism is?

  • @ooponsecondthought pretty effin hard since pagans have been fishing and hunting in the dead of winter since the dawn of man. It's still a common thing today.

  • paganism is usually polytheistic, it is a broad generalization of religions that in some way worship nature. I am a Pagan but my religion is all my own. I believe the earth is a living being with a severe infestion of parasitic humans. I respect the sun for the energy it gives the earth and the moon for the tides. That's my holy trinity now ask a navajo or an Austrailian Aberiginole what paganism means to them. Just don't ask a monotheist what paganism is, they don't know.

  • theirs no such thing as a satanic witch. Pagans and Witches don't even believe in satin.
