Ya i remember b4 i knew who he was i was at the Groove buying a record and he was blasting some 50cent just searching threw the vinyl for something tight i guess and i remember thinking why would they let this guy blast this stuff in here then like 6 months later i seen him at the club just chillin and i was talkin to him about seeing him at the record store, and after that my boy was like thats Dj Monk
i knew him way back when...back late 80's/early 90's...glory days! back when you could go up to the DJ booth at DNA and ask him to play 808 State...Monk is one of the O.G.'s.
I had the pleasure of seeing him play seeral times and actually hanging out with him after a show in Jacksonille back in 1999. Really kewl down to earth guy. He had just quit smoking and wouldn't hit some nasty dank I had, but awesome dude anyhow. I'm sure most of you know hes the other producer and dj in Rabit in the Moon. Which are the greats of all time old school Breaks. look em up.
Seen monk in Louisville ky at an all BreaKZ show...I must say he murdered the show it was by far the best show ive seen next to Jykle and hyde or Keith Mac...Monk brings it hands down
I was one of the Headliners at this show, I missed a good portion of his set, and am always amazed by his performances. And whoever that was that said monk sucks needs to get off Tiesto's dick for a bit. If he doesn't sound like shoes in a dryer, than you have no idea how good he is. Just cause you don't like a song or style doesn't mean that a particular DJ sucks, and the comment that Monk does is stupid as hell at best. Probably made by some trance cracker. Go eat a candy necklace!
