From the concrete jungle of Los Angeles, a ragtag collection of scientists, explorers, and a philosopher band together and journey deep into the California High Desert. It is an attempt to learn the history of those who came before them. An effort to divine some sanity from the unnatural monotony of urban life. An escape from the concrete scab on the Earth from whence they came , to answer a call within the hearts of all humans to experience harmony with Mother Nature.

Nestled deep in the Panamint Mountain Range in the Death Valley National Monument, at the top of a 5-mile gulch called Surprise Canyon, which is a jagged crevice filled with steep waterfalls, springs overgrown with trees and bushes, rattlesnakes, and an arduous, rocky path that is akin to a 4-mile long staircase, somewhere up there, is the remains of an old silver mining town called Panamint City. That is their destination. This is their story. They are ... The Desert Dogs.

  • I have been to panamint city back in 1978 actually drove a lifted modified station wagon up the hill. Stayed with some vegatarian hippies, Thank you Jim and Mary Ann Long! There used to be two smelter towers till some moron shot it down with a cannon. Try Skidoo canyon you can ride the 300 foot cable over the canyon in an ore car. During the brief time it wasnt a national park we had claim to 80 acers of mining camp there. Ahhh the memories!

  • We have been to all those places except panamint city. We are doing that next week. Cant wait to get to Ballarrat!

  • Interesting and pretty neat. But you guys look like tools for taking any firearms in there. Lose the airsoft. Why would you take that bs in there. You are more likely to get into trouble than if you had nothing.

  • Hey guys great video. This is my favorite place in the world. I take a trip up here about three times a year and I am actually heading up there next weekend. Keep making great videos. PS A new act of congress now allows guns in national parks. It is not smart to be without one in this area.

  • Good work you guys. I remember seeing your first trip on Video... Hope to see more from you.
