@mikewedeking Ok its been 3 yrs but after reading the rest of the comments nobody gave you a definative answer. machines x frame is designed to spread weight. wider lgp pads add to this, but, in a quarrying/mining operation, a wide pad goin over hard uneven rock will tend to sideflex easier thus leading to wear on rollers and chains. narrow pads won't sideflex as easy so the undercarraige lasts longer

How does a video on a machine always wittle down to 2 or 3 guys goin at it. makes me laugh. i have one guy block me cause i set him straight on a cat 385cl and ME issue (cat325ccr's 385Cl vid, check it out). buy a CAT your buyin a name, an operator friendly name though and i hav ran 345-385 that gave no trouble, but mid sized are crap, an i hate to admit it but although not as comfy to sit in for 14 hrs a day, the Komatsu are a better machine, and the dealer service cover in europe is excellent
