How to Check PS3 Hard Drive for Errors!

Step 1: Un screw the blue screw (slim is on bottem, fat is on side)
Step 2: Pull out the hard drive. This DOES NOT VOID ANY WARRENTY.
Step 3: Connect the hard disk to the PC using a SATA - To - USB connection.
Step 4: Download HD Tune (www.hdtune.com)
Step 5: navigate to the last tab and hit "Start Test"
Step 6: wait for everything to load and then see your results!
Step 7: Post your conclusion! =)
P.S. You will not have to format the hard drive when you connect it to the pc or when you put it back in the ps3.

question, My ps3 suffered data corruption and then when I try to restore it using safe mode, the ps3 can't even access the hard drive. I was thinking about connecting my hard drive to another ps3 hard drive and copy the data onto mine. I was wondering if this is possible, and if so what type of cable(s) would I need?

iv done what you said (even bought a sata to USB) but how do i fix the corruptions? hd tune dont have a fix button and im not a computer programer so im back to square 1 Can anyone help? PLEASE!!!

@seewassup1 there is a backup utility in the ps3 xmb. you can backup to a usb flash or external drive. you wont lose your files

Don't do a quick scan... Do a full scan instead...
