a very short piece played on the French made Mirecourt C.1850 the piece written by Johann Kasper Mertz (1806-1856)This guitar was found in terrible condition-side broken away, neck loose, and the intricate edging to the sound board like spaghetti!- restored by Tom Murray over a year at his Perthshire workshop. Tom uses authentic materials to repair/restore these instruments and nothing modern is added -except the strings, which are Hannabach low tension. The guitar was unlabelled, but there is an almost identical guitar in the Mirecourt (France) Museum of stringed instruments-we think the guitar was made in France by Aubrey et maire (sic), for the English market.
thanks to Valerie (Luthval) for this info.
