Following the Royal Canadian Pacific on a Calgary round trip thru the Canadian Rockies, Part One shows the train southbound from Calgary, AB to Cowley (sunset at Barons)on 7/31/2009, then Cowley to Cranbrook, BC (sunset at Jaffray) on 8/1/2009. This sold-out trip was powered by FP9 4106, GP38-2 3084 & FP9 4107, reportedly the first time the three were made up in consist this way.

  • too bad they put the gp38 between the 2 f's. Did they do it like that becasue the f's have hep and the gp doesn't?

  • No, the 4107 had just gotten out of the shop a week earlier, having been down OOS, so they sent the GP38 "as backup" in case 4107 failed. Turns out, they rarely even cranked the 4107, letting 3084 do the honours.
