This is "My Dearest Dear and Final" from "The Dancing Years" featuring Ivor Novello himself and sang by Julie Bryan, Ivor Emmanuel and The William Singers.
This is a HMV recording from 1959 and in mono, but due to the sound quality sounds great on this deep grove record.
To me Ivor is our greatest writer of music from the early period and I have others of his work to share with you Noel Coward being the other.

    You are welcome my friend

    Warm regards

  • I had the rare pleasure and opportunity of getting to know Mary Ellis when she was in her 90s, and she was a truly lovely lady. She was so proud - and very modest too, when she spoke about the fact that Ivor had written Musicals for her. I was quite overwhelmed when realising I had got to know someone who was so close to Ivor and had worked with him so much - it was a wonderful experience!

    HI

Thank you fro sharing this knowledge with me and what a pleasure to know someone who know the great man.

    Warm regards

  • Such a beautiful song. Shame it's so hard to find to buy. I first heard it when Derek Jameson presented the Terry Wogan show for the few years and he had a musical spot on there. This song took my breath away.

I am so pleased you enjoyed my Ivor Novello posting of My Dearest Dear - it is a great number with Ivor in the song. His voice is so pleasant.

    Warmest regards

  • A beautiful song that touches the heart , i remember when i was about 8 years old in 1956 and my mother took us to watch "The Dancing Years" at our local cinema , it was a live performance by a great cast, i can never forget the lovely tunes even at that age they stirred the emotions,
