One Long Distance Call

I'm not sure why this would be characterized as being particularly long distance. A call between two positions on the Earth can never be further than 12800km, though it could stretch as far as 20,000km overland. ISS orbits 400km up in LEO. So depending upon where ISS was in its orbit, it could have been anywhere between 400 km (250mi) and 13200km (8200mi) away. A reminder that humans are really quite restricted spatially. And we can't even get that far without thumbing a lift with the Russians.

I'm a conservative and I'm not a fan of President Obama, but it's heartwarming to see something that we can all be proud of as Americans. Good job Mr. President, and God Bless to all of the brave astronauts who personify the American spirit of exploration and discovery.

They should just admit that we're not alone in the Universe. It's obvious to anyone with a brain. The evidence is stacked.

great video!! I wish this could be translated to many languages for everyone all over the world, specially for kids, to make them see that there aren't only bad news and that study, hard work, and cooperation between different nations, is the key to really survive our technological adolescence.
I hope one day science would take it's deserved place in human life, above politics and religion (most of the time, causes of evil)
Good to see Obama is paying more attention to science rather than war
