A San Francisco police officer hit by a car last night in North Beach has been released from the hospital after suffering bruises and abrasions, and sent home, the SFPD told us moments ago.
The name of the officer has not been released -- but, then again, noted police spokesman Sergeant Wilfred Williams, names are not released "even in regular traffic accidents." The officer will be "feeling some pain," but will return to his job "eventually."
The officer was walking in the crosswalk last night not long after 10 p.m. when he was struck by the front bumper of a vehicle traveling eastbound on Vallejo and turning north onto Stockton Street.
That driver remained at the scene of the accident and cooperated with police, Williams said. The driver was not cited.
