  • The problem is that Russian language was enforced to speak and study during the Soviet Union period and for this reason lots of people who graduated during that time still speak Russian, so as their children logically...you know what I mean? ))) I just think it's gonna take a while before Kazakh language will dominate among young generation. And the education system in Kazakh language needs time get better too. PS. Putin was funny )))

  • yeah and also i think they need to modernize the Kazakh language a bit so it will apply to modern times, new words and things ya know?

  • End... Epic :) btw, I went to russian school, but right now I want to study Kazakh

  • proud of u man.

kind of feel bad that i know russian better than kazak. Hopefully, we will improve the inforcement of the law

  • It's very similar to Wales in the UK. The welsh language is spoken by much of the older generation and all signs are sill in welsh & english. I think learning welsh is still compulsory at school but beyond that much of the younger generation are lucky if they know a few words. Obviously I'm speaking broadly here and there will be many exceptions but it's basically a dying language which I think is very sad. But how do you combat this in a world dominated by the need to communicate efficiently?

  • sad, but it's true. Me and my wife in US doing the same thing as you do out there and it's pretty amazing how different we are. It's common for kazakh ppl to learn many languages and don't know their own. shame. Especially for kazakh girls, who usually say smthg like: "I don't speak kazakh, but I understand everything" - and I usually reply with question: "Like a dog?"
