  • "Go ahead. What part is wrong?"

I wanted to punch Joan in the face but her delivery was just too perfect.

  • Yes, I love the scene, but she speaks from pain. Whatever went on between her and Paul, it ended on a sour note, but because they work together, there's never any real possibility of letting go.

  • tbf I thought he was a little betwixt and between when they had him wearing a random scarf around his neck and drinking wine from 1779 in a goblet as well

  • I had forgotten how great the scenes between these two were in this episode

    pretentious beard

  • pwned

  • I admire her honesty. I hope Sheila doesn't get hurt, though. When Paul introduced Sheila to Joan as a supermarket checkout girl, he hastened to add that she was also attending school. I'd love to know more about Joan's academic career. I'll bet she did well in school.

  • BEYOTCH!!!! Love her, though!

  • She's a fighter, a bit twisted, but a fighter. I'd dislike her character a lot if she didn't show that she was an equal opportunity kind of person--she intimidates everyone.

  • Compare him to that Italian guy in the Art Department. I can't remember his name. His mannerisms are obviously gay and it's hard to believe no one ever picked up on it even back then.

This guy however, while pretentious, pseudo-intellectual, and as you say a dandy is not gay.

  • Yes, but she obviously didn't enjoy it.

  • Oh, he's definitely a dandy, but in that unselfconscious, early 20th century kind of way. Besides, what we consider to be obviously gay now was considered to be refined and classy at that time- look at Lawrence Oliver and other classically trained actors. He has pretense to be an artist and an intellectual, and he sort of acts it out in this dramatic and attention mongering persona.

  • what a beast!
