The film, which is now in production and is being shot entirely in 3D, will be released on July 4, 2012. The film stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Martin Sheen, and Sally Field. The film is directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt and Alvin Sargent and Steve Kloves based on the Marvel Comic Book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Laura Ziskin, Avi Arad, and Matt Tolmach are producing the Marvel Entertainment production for Columbia Pictures.

People that say that this movie is awful

They are assholes the spiderman 1,2,3 was a complete mess,they don't follow the comics story! This one was nominated one of the best marvel's movie so stop talking shit the movie is good and follow the comic story perfectly

Garfield's performance was hideous. It was'nt at all consistant or beliveable. This film shouldn't be appreciated at all. Best thing that could happen would be for this film & it's sequels to tank so Marvel would get the rights back. Until Marvel has the rights there isn't going to be a Spider-Man film that's worth a damn.

I disagree. The entire time I was watching TASM I was hating every moment. Nothing in the film was at all entertaining. This film makes Howard the Duck look damn good.

P.S. I'm an avid comic book fun. I love the early Ultimate Spiderman comics and the timeline in this movie. I'll conceit to the fact - Raimi's is more accurate to the origin of how Peter got bitten and turned into Spiderman (the hand, not the neck like TASM - but I actually appreciated the change) but TASM get's the plot + everything else right (to be fair).

Cgi effects (umm, Spiderman 2 had GTA 4 graphics and helicopter scene looked outta video game - nice :P), acting - I can't even go there. Andrew acted like a teenager not some mopey nerd, Gwen could act brilliantly not like Kirsten who couldn't sing and cliched - um superhero movie - what'd you expect? Sure, maybe Sony wanted to hold onto the rights a little longer but this movie should be appreciated more than it is right now and I enjoy the new direction of where Spiderman is heading!
