  • Do you guys have a video about cutting the seat patterns? Seriously contemplating try to reupholstery my 95 Audi S6 seats but they're pretty intricate...

  • Top advice, thank you. I was looking at buying these books but wasn't sure if they were worth it :)

  • @younggunsfab Thanks for your help on these 2 books John.. I will most definitely buy these and would be practicing a lot to see if I can handle this task 1st with vinyl. I have trimmed the rest of my panels in Alcantara suede, but I only needed to use high temp upholstery glue and the surfaces were mostly flat. The result was very nice but the dash may need a professional if I cant do this myself. I will have a try as I really enjoy the process of trimming. Thanks again.

  • and "Custom Auto Interior". I would suggest practicing on vinyl before you start using leather because leather is about 10 times the cost of vinyl. Hope this helps and thanks for the good comments!

Hey! Thanks for watching the videos! Well wrapping a dash and make a seat cover are probably the two hardest things to trim in a car. The way I measure for a dash is by making templates out of thin clear vinyl. Basic lightly gluing it down and then marking where I want my seams and then adding my seam allowance when I cut the actual peace out. If you are just starting out there are two really good books you can buy on amazon by Don Taylor called " Automotive Upholstery Handbook"
