My first try of this unique masterpiece. Maestro Mangore composed this work in 1924. It is based on the Paraguayan folk dance. It is a virtuoso piece and requires the player to dedicate time to stretches, and perfect coordination of both hands to maintain the tempo. I am performing Uruguayan Maestro Cesar Amaro revision a bit different and not too much known.
Agustin Barrios Mangore is still revered in Paraguay, where he is seen as one of the greatest musicians of all time by many. John Williams has said of Barrios: "As a guitarist/composer, Barrios is the best of the lot, regardless of era. His music is better formed, it's more poetic, it's more everything! And it's more of all those things in a timeless way".
