The Room Where I Died

The work was created with a clear idea of combining French theorist Jean Baudrillards ideas of hyperrealism with William Burkes writings concerning the sublime. The use of 3D software as an artistic medium really embodies the notion of constructing a reality which is highly detailed and believable, yet fundamentally unreal.

The Hyperreal :)

Well the sublime response (according to burke) is elicited by a profound sense of beauty, or fear. I have drawn upon my own version on what I find elicits a fear response - films like The Ring creeped me out, as did in particular the video game series Silent Hill. So I've drawn inspiration from the imagery, sounds and moods to create a series of moving images which hints to a violent and possibly supernatural situation.. and therefore eliciting a fear response from my audience, hopefully ..
