John of http://www.growingyourgreens.com takes you to his community garden plots in Northern California. While other community gardens lay dormant, John is growing Winter crops in his two plots.
I'd love to have access to that many leaves for my compost pile, compost them man! And yes it's totally possible and fun to grow your own greens. I have a plot in my local community garden and it's great to be able to see yours.
WHOA!!!! we have some of those "Malo" plants growing in my yard cause I kinda "let my backyard go." i swear there are over 30 different types of weeds in my yard. anyway we usually mow the plant down but had no idea they were edible!!! thanks so much, John!
Talking about fava beans here; I took up your advice/tip and bought some at Whole Foods in the bulk bin, they are doing so awesome! I just planted the sprouted ones in my garden bed a few days ago. So cost-effective! Thank you so much for posting these videos John!
I wonder if you can set up an area of seedlings you don't have room to plant in your space, to share with other gardeners and if they can share things in return? Kinda sad that someone messed up your fence. I wondered about such behavior in community gardens. As it is, I might have little neighbors that might "visit" my garden. If I catch them, I'm putting them to work. lol
Thanks John for another great video. Minh and i love our garden and hope you inspire lots of people to get a garden going. Besides all the food, we get exercise, sunshine and learn a lot every day.
As often as I have seen you pull off some green leaves and pop them in your mouth and eat them without washing, I hope someone doesn't do the same with that chard your dog, Chico, just hiked his leg on, lol..they will be in for a taste treat, aackk! Dogs do not belong in a garden, they carry parasites such as round worms, pin worms, & hooks, along w/the eggs of parasites...just an fyi...
ha! I think my neighbors would get really grumpy with me if I started growing in my front lawn. but who knows? i might do it anyways =D ugg i got the same problem! a chihuahua getting on top of my bed and peeing on things! T_T
