Uhh... the reason elbows are illegal in amateur is because it's too easy to cut guys open. Not even (old) Strikeforce rules allowed elbows because of the chance to end a fight too early. It has nothing to do with a "professional" "properly" throwing them.

no you can really hurt someone if you throw an elbow without being taught how too. You can cause serious injuries and send someone to the hospital.

probably because it's amateurs, amateurs aren't allowed to throw elbows since they can really fuck a person up if they're not done by a professional.
