3 day old AKC Bloodhound puppies

this is our most recent litter of AKC Bloodhounds. 11 babies total. all reds. 5 girls 6 boys. the mother is Abby Stevens Douglas(Abby). the sire is Okie Acres Amber Alert(Bert). you can see pics and pedigrees of both parents at OutlawedHounds.com(website is still under construction)

ps: sorry the video is a bit dark. i didnt want to disturb them to much by turning on all of the lights.

Is it very profitable breeding animals? Is it your pastime? They're just so adorable :)

actually, if done right, breeding dogs will break even. all our pups have their first 2 rounds of shots, are de-wormed as a precaution, and are microchipped before going to new homes. there is also the cost of vet trips to make sure mom is healthy and the pups are developing as planned, and the dog food for the mom and the pups once they are weaned.

so in the end, breeding makes the dogs pay for themselves but not much more than that. it is a hobby for us. we love the breed and want to make it better. we have multiple pups that we have bred that are now in law enforcement and search and rescue. it is a nice feeling knowing that some of our pups are out there finding lost children and bringing them home.
