B-side to Mazzy's new single out Oct. 2011. The A-side, "Common Burn" is also now available. I've uploaded it to YT here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7ayH09psxc
(I see some sites now refer to the single as having double-A sides, i.e. two A-sides, & no B-side).
-Note: I've since uploaded a 2nd (& louder) recording of Lay Myself Down here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=182Rooyv6Hk
This first upload was recorded from the streamed audio at a lower volume than I'd have liked. Depending on listeners' audio set-ups, this could pose a listening problem, or be an annoyance, so I've remedied this by uploading a 2nd recording where volume's already pre-cranked, as it's recorded at louder level. Instead of replacing one video with the other, I've decided it might be more practical just to leave both up, & let listeners choose.
The two new songs are officially available, on Mazzy Star's own new Indie label, Rhymes of an Hour Records, to purchase online as of Oct. 31, 2011. Mazzy's an Indie band now. Support & encourage them by buying their music!
This recording comes from a free stream of the song findable at pitchfork.com. Many other sites are now streaming both songs. Pitchfork & other sites claim a new Mazzy album & tour are both in the offing for 2012. Such good news for Mazzy fans, especially as their last official release was in '96 & their last tour was way back in 2000 (what took them so long?)!
-Check my YT Channel for many (mostly live) unreleased & rare Mazzy Star, & Hope Sandoval & the Warm Inventions songs I've uploaded.
(attempted lyrics transcription below):
LAY MYSELF DOWN
Just like [ light-?] she follows me
My wings are under her tree
She says one thing and that's just enough
It doesn't matter how much
Would I forget
Laying myself down
Just to regret
And that's all
Would I forget
I'll go away
I'll never know how far, how long
She keeps a [diamond?] inside her door
She don't have a clue
Would I forget
Laying myself down
Just to regret
And that's all
Would I forget
Laying myself down
Just to regret
And that's all
And that's all
And that's all
I hear her sing "Did I forgive laying myself down" in the first chorus.
I hear forget clearly in the second chorus.
Does she ever change words in the chorus? I can't remember.
2nd verse:
I'll never know how far I'll go
I hear: I'll never know how far, how long

@ayundame Thanks. you nailed "how far, how long". My first attempt had "forgive" in 1st chorus, but later decided it was likely "forget".

Update: It took a few days to realize this upload was recorded from the streamed audio at a lower volume level than I'd have liked (my fault). Depending on ones audio set-up, this could pose a listening problem, or be an annoyance (or not), so I have a new, 2nd upload of Lay Myself Down available, recorded louder, i.e. at a higher volume level (see the video description for its YT URL), so listeners can take their pick!
