Pretty much the same as before, except its all mounted in the chassis, and I ran it for 20 minutes. This video was recorded after I let the battery die down a bit, just to see how the generator would handle the battery charging and loaded inverter at the same time. Same load on the inverter as before, 1530 watts. Be sure to watch all the videos of this generator.

  • LOL! Dude, You're like a mad scientist!

I mean that in a good way of course.

  • @vention4wh Of course! :-)

  • What is the HP of the engine? Very interesting and I have been contemplating a home made generator for 2400w at 240v AC. I calculate I would need about 200amp dc power to run full power (rare) but would like the option to handle any appliance I need. My plan is to incorporate current meter and servos to adjust the throttle on the fly should my expertise stretch that far.

  • @jestermgee That is a 40 year old 7HP tecumseh. Use a rule of thumb of 500. So to make 2500 watts of power, you'll need at least 5HP. If you look at retail generator units you'll see a lot of them have a power/HP ration of 500. A good engine will have a built in govenor and that should be all you need to keep the engine rpm constant and correct. My question is where will you get a 240VAC 60HZ inverter that has a 12V or 24V DC input? If you know of them please tell me!!

  • Hey man... I did some updates on my setup. Like how your set is coming along.

  • @MrLagros Thanks. I have a 2nd chassis cage now. Just waiting for that great deal on a deep cycle 8D type battery.

  • @AlternativePowerMan 12VDC to 240VAC inverters show up on ebay under the name Accurate Tools ATSIU Series. Search for "Stackable Inverters". I reckon the efficiency isn't so hot with such a bad voltage ratio.

Alternatively you could track down a 42V alternator & Inverter like the Vanner TA60-100.4. They also show up on ebay, but make sure they include (or you can get) the often forgotten alternator.

  • @ARTOFPATIENCE Yea, i don't think anyone said anything about this being free energy. I think it was to make a generator.

  • still needs gas though not free energy

  • @stdavross666 Yep, it works real good. The cool part is when I only need a small amount of power, then I just run off the battery, and use regular house power (when it comes back on) or the engine to recharge the battery.
