  • Where did you set the CG on this model? and did you have to add much weight to acheive it?

I've got a 2nd hand P40 which I believe is a Hangar9, but the manuals CG setting seems a long way forward, I had to add 8oz at the bulkhead to acheive their figure of 3" from leading edge at wing root.

Haven't flown it yet as I don't relish the consequences of getting it wrong!

  • Hey man, that 3" sounds about right. It's a friends plane, but usually it's that first spar after the leading edge of the plane. That really does sound like the spot. Always error on the side of nose heavy, just make sure you have lots of down elevator to compensate if you have to. My buddy didn't even build it himself, but I can call him and if it's different I'll reply again. Thanks for watching!

  • I have the same plane. (video can be seen here on YT) The 3" mark is accurate. If and how much weight you have to add depends on alot of things. i.e. Motor size, batt size & location, etc. I have the Saito 100 for example and did not add any weight. Go figure...

  • Saito 100 is the best engine to put in there. I have a H9 Miss America Mustang with a 100 in it, works great. We actually did a speed run with it at 112mph, with a huge pitch prop, little hard to land it slow with that too. Thanks for watching, I'll check out your vids

  • Mine wags also, but only in high wind. That's when i keep it 15ft above the deck.......

  • Ended up flying the plane with the CG set 3.75" behind the leading edge.

I have to say it flys a real treat, I fitted a Magnum 91 4stroke, which seems to have adequate power for a nice, smooth scale fly.

Only thing I noticed was a tendendcy to "tail-wag" a little, but the wind was quite turbulent on both occasions its been flown.

Nice model, and the 90 degree-twist retracts went down very well at the field!

  • spinners generally are two pieces, a back plate that goes on first, then your prop, then the nose cone of the spinner. The nose cone will either screw into the backplate, or some other styles have a nut for the end that one bolt screws into, through the middle of the spinner, kinda hard to explain. Take it to your local hobby shop if you still have problems

  • quick question - sorry if it sounds stupid, I have a really old rc airplane inherited, thats far beyond repair. and I was wondering how the spinner on the p40 attaches to the engine. Does it screw in with the bolt? or clip on? how does it attach?

  • That's it, Hangar 9 60 Size P40 ARF. Add your servos , engine, battery etc, but all other hardware comes with . Just put together my Hangar 9 Miss America Mustang, great plane, flies like an acrobat, not a warbird! Thanks for watching!

  • nvm.. saw hangar 9 at the end
