there wasnt any radio comunication, the "joystick" with compass and other sensors was connected direct to the nxt. Why did u write "LEGO NXT Wii-mote with Mindsensors..."

The main difference between a wiimote and other joysticks and controllers is that is contains acceleration sensors that can detect tilt - which is what this remote does too.

it'd be cool if a glovePIE was made to control this with a wiimote. can you send commands to it from your computer?

Yes - you can control the Lego NXT via bluetooth or USB
