OK, so finally a new video from me. First of all, a happy 2012 to everyone.
Stonewall Jackson wrote this great number, nevertheless, this is, for tempo and arrangement, based off the version Cal Smith (then Ernest Tubb's rhythm guitarist) recorded with the Texas Troubadours at one of E.T.'s concerts at the "Spanish Castle" in Seattle in 1965. The concert was recorded as a boot leg by Jan Kurtis, formerly Ernest's drummer, which is available on the internet. Back in the day, Ernest had about the tightest band in the world, with Leon Rhodes and Buddy Charleton trading solos, great harmonies and E.T. as spot on as ever. I hope you like my recording, even though I guess noone will ever reach the great sound of the Texas Troubadours on this song, but, as always, you know it's a fun thing for me to put my mark on the tune and I appreciate each one of you who enjoys just a bit of it. Thanks!
