atlanta's legendary female impersonator diamond lil had several local hit singles during the 1960's and 1970's. This rear recording features legendary Motown studio backup singer Louvain Demps who contributed to major recordings by Mary Wells and Marvin Gaye as well as many other Motown greats.

  • Miss Diamond was a big inspiration for Candy, as they met when Diamond was opening for a production of "Torch Song Trilogy". Hooray for Diamond Lil!

  • I knew Lil in Atlanta (A few years ago) I think she will probably remember my

best friend back then (Steve, from Merietta ,,) Where ever Lil was performing,

we made a point to go see her. If you've never seen her dancing eyes,,,,,You missed it honey. No drag queen , past, present ,or future, will ever compare to Diamond Lil.

  • There is no coincidence, John Cameron Mitchell HAD to have taken influence from Diamond Lil for Hedwig. Ha, I love this.

  • WORK!
