The plant also makes it's "own" herbicide that it leaks into the soil. It will kill and/or choke off any other plants growing around it. I've killed and removed several of these plants in my day. If you let them get too tall, you will need a chainsaw and a bulldozer to take them down. They have the toughest bark I have ever seen on a plant. I used a hacksaw. Btw, those flowery things indicate that they are female trees. Get rid of these things NOW.

After it has died or at least withered from roundup, you must take a shovel and uproot the whole thing and cover the area in epsom salts. If you leave ANY bit of root in the ground, it will come back with a vengeance and grow even faster. They can read the height of a tall house in only two growing seasons. If you fracture the leaves..stems etc, the plant emits an obnoxious odor resembling that of someone who hasn't used underarm deodorant.

Sir, those "ornamental bushes" are actually "baby trees". The name of the plant or plants in this case is called "Tree of Heaven" Ailanthus altissima. It is actually a very annoying weed tree. It grows VERY fast and VERY tall and is extremely hardy. It is very difficult to get rid of as you must remove it..root and all. Although, I've hard success with chopping it down, cutting slits in it's bark (yes, the older the plant gets..the thicker it's bark gets) and zapping it with roundup.
