I have a beautiful FT-990 I have to swap off (for an FT-890 +?) as I am going full 12v RV and my FT-990 is AC and too large.

i have one of these ft890at for the last eight years and it is a great radio in my experience, have worked more then 5000dx contacts so far and still going strong.

Well Okay, if you've got lots of money to spend, why not ... But in fact, buy a 300 Euros 2nd TRX + a dipole or a loop and you'll much fun.
The average user doesn't need such expensive TRX

I have had two 890s in my time.. simply a cracking little radio, id never part with mine, a keeper..

Sadly both my Australian FT-890AT's won't do the Gen TX mod. :( CPU is crippled. :( .-.-.
