Nikola Tesla invented the induction motor with rotating magnetic field (see http://www.teslasociety.com/hall_of_fame.htm). This induction motor is exhibited at Nikola Tesla Memorial Centre, Croatia. Exhibit is made by Zvonimir Rudomino.

  • @Naminukaz

Brass power terminals are located next to the stator armature.

  • This design is still used today. Praise Edison if you must , but Tesla, the man who gave us AC current and the polyphase ac motor/generator is the true genius :)

  • amazing! never thought i would see it.

  • @Oldbmwr100rs Umm NO!! This is an early AC INDUCTION motor design that uses a brushless rotor which is still used today. The motor you are referring to with the brushes is a universal motor which is NOT a true AC motor in that it can also run on DC. An AC induction motor has no brushes or commutators and can only run on AC power hence it is not "universal".

  • RESPECT FOR NICOLA TESLA

  • @revcletis Edison promised Tesla $50K if he could solve some of Edison's theoretical problems and improve his designs. When Nicola was done, Thomas laughed at him and said he didn't understand American humor. Tesla found a backer in Westinghouse and got the country onto AC,which was far more efficient than DC,and also got the contract for the world's fair lighting.I'd say he got Edison back for his little ripoff.

  • @cpepe223 It's the earliest design of the AC induction motor still used to this day in most AC motor systems, like appliances, fans, pumps, almost everything outside of power tools that use brushed ac motors.

  • this motor is used for? can be used for?

  • @MrTpengineer I was going to say the same thing. It's built by the master!!

  • Does anyone know the pattent number for this invetion?

  • The power of my homeland!!!

  • That motor is really quick starting up!
