The problem is that there is great pressure to fly prototype aircraft before the advanced fly by wire systems are bulletproof and in this case before all the computer code was finished. This is a beautiful example of an advanced fighter aircraft and a worthy successor to the Saab 37 Viggen. For the record the XF-22 prototype also had a similar landing problem brought about by incomplete computer code .

The pilot DID survive! He only suffored a broken elbow and minor scratches. The pilot later explained why he didn't eject from the plane; It's a safety mechanism that makes sure that you can't eject from a plane that is upside down when under 140ft, if you did, the ejection seat would crush the pilot. So when he realized that he couldn't recover the plane, it was already too late to eject...

hell no, i doubt he survived that, Gripens do have great power, but when the pilot pulled the stick too hard, it pulled up at a high angle and stalled out. and you can tell that when it was going off the runway, it caught some airflow underneath the wings and started to roll. and then it hit the cockpit a little, id be suprized if he survived, but for now.... rest in peace and god bless him

Well, You Brits can come over the Atlantic anytime you want to try and revoke our Independence. I think you'll get your ass whipped worse than in 1789!! Plus... didn't you Brits give up your gun rights? Americans have 200 million guns in the private sector alone. Anytime you want to try an invasion, be my guest. LMAO
