I don't know what was more traumatic, the idea of asking her to come or the moment I got off the plane seeing her smiling face. I know that that shouldn't be traumatic, but I expected to have more time. My heart started to race and my breathing quickened as she came closer, but oddly enough, the minute she was in my arms, everything was calm. It was comforting, the familiar scent of vanilla, the way that, even in the cold temperature of the morning, her hug was so warm and inviting, the way her warm hands grazed my cheek but especially the way her lips felt on mine. "I missed you." She whispered. "I love you." I whispered back. That's something I'll never forget, the way her eyes light up and her lips pulled into a smile so beautiful it knocked the wind out of me. "I love you." She responded, like a caress on my lips before they connected.
I knew then what her answer would be, I'd still ask of course, but maybe just maybe I'd have nothing to worry about. The thought never reentered my head until I asked her later that day. Her response was ecstatic. She said that she'd planned to take a year off anyway, hoping that we could spend more time together and maybe go to college together in the off season of tour. It was an easy solution to what seemed like, at the time, such a big problem. The fact that, even if we are opposites, we are also so alike. Coming together in a perfect attraction. In the way that all love should.
