  • Although games can be addictive if you allow them to be, blaming a game for a man's suicide is wrong. If he had killed himself while watching Predator, she would probably be all over the makers of Predator about it.

I apologize for their loss, but you cant blame EverQuest for it. He probably had a few mental problems to begin with, and the game was his way to fit in with a group.

Unless the game comes packed with a gun, theres no reason for her to blame Sony for this.

  • Every time I run across this video I smile, and I am a very depressed person.

I quit playing Everquest about a year ago because there weren't enough players on my server to make it fun anymore.

There will never be another game as good as EQ, I played WoW, WAR, and vangaurd. They are all sad in comparison to EQ's heyday Of course it might just be that these games are past their prime as well, maybe they were better in the past, but I can't imagine how they could have been better than EQ.

  • haha that hack local reporter.

  • The wrong thing is she let her son Get a Gun

  • just RESPAWN DAMN IT!

  • This is so stupied you can see that the guy had problems with his mom and others in his family thats what drived him to Evercrack and only then did he find somthing that said its ok not to kill himself. but with consistence familial members hurting him more and more not even everquest could help him. Take Care of your Kids the right way and help them

  • I agree that EQ and EQ2 are addictive. No question about it. But being responsible for someone's death? Please... Alcohol and cigarettes kill people. Guns kill people. Games don't. Make them addicted and lazy sometimes, yes. But kill? Wake up. This guy obviously had psychological problems and anything could have triggered that reaction he got. I play EQ2, I like to take pictures. I like editing/recording movies. It's fun. It's addicting. Will that kill me too because I like doing it?

  • If the game was to blame for her sons death, then there'd be multi millions of dead people at their computers right now. I cannot believe things like this have to be said, but again, emotional denial can run as deep as the mental illness her son sadly had, and she doesn't even realize that. She's looking for a scapegoat by blaming SoE (makers of Everquest). No different from blaming food for making you fat! How illogical! YOU are in control of what goes in your mouth! Same with gaming!

  • They would understand a bit more. What they're going on is "IGNORANCE" prior to actually learning about it before opening the mouth. Now these lady losing her sons life is sad, but it wasn't the game makers' fault! Her emotions are obviously blinding her, and I could only imagine the pain she is in, so I feel for her. But I hope no one seriously takes what she says and thinks it's logical. I'm sorry, but it isn't. It's just emotional denial; looking to blame something for her sons death.

  • What are they going to do? Make online games illegal, and actually call them "drugs"? LOL! Pathetic morons. Online games like Everquest are like fantasy novels for the eyes. It's like the next step in making a fantasy novel become closer to reality, in that your eyes can now see it, not just your imagination. You can now control characters in that world, and meet other characters controlled by other people in that world. If these games existed in the 1970s, these people wouldn't whine about 'em.

  • Blaming Blizzard or SoE for making games so good that people love to play them is as stupid as blaming the NFL, NBA, NHL, etc. for making sports so well that people love to watch them, and yes, many are obsessed with sports, the players, the teams, rivalries, etc. And I'm quite sure you can find rare exceptions of people actually committing suicide over their team losing, or a playing moving to another team. Mentally ill people are everywhere and do things like this all the time.
